Library Branches Campaign

Funding Libraries for New Generations

San Jose is experiencing an incredible renaissance of its libraries.  We are building libraries that welcome all comers, inspire learning and create an environment of community involvement.  They will spark exploration and innovation for generations to come.

The library bond measure passed in 2000 designated $212 million for the expansion of fourteen branch libraries, as well as the addition of six new branch libraries in neighborhoods that had not previously had their own branch.  However, the bond earmarked money for construction only and not the items inside the building that make it a vibrant library.

Branching Out Campaign:  From Dream to Reality

The Branching Out Campaign is designed to secure funds to help outfit the 20 branch libraries which are being expanded or newly constructed.  This campaign is the means by which individuals, companies, foundations and organizations in our community can help to provide for those elements that bring the library to life.  The campaign, building a growing base of private sector support for the entire library system, will help to provide:

  • Support for opening day collection – including books, DVD’s CDs, and audio books
  • State-of-the-art technology to assure equitable public access and meet specific needs
  • High quality and durable furnishings and fixtures

The Branching Out Campaign gives all San Jose residents the opportunity to be part of this exciting transformation.  By making a donation, you can help bring expanded collections, and advanced technology to your branch.  Make your donation today.
